Abstract:
There are a wide variety of resources available on herbal subjects, from the
scientific to the "poetic" with its whole focus on heavenly matters, to the
outright erroneous and dangerous. If you are interested in the potentials that
herbs have to offer and want to keep yourself safely out of the hospital, a
practical approach is absolutely necessary. Here we explain how the scientific
method works in testing the properties of herbal medicines, and stress the
importance of being aware of the validity your sources of information and the
importance of consulting your physician before taking any medication
~~~~~~~~~
Abstract:
Today, with the growing interest in alternative medical practices, many people
are turning to herbs and herbal preparations. Herbs represent a natural
approach that seems all to often ignored by allopathic medical practice, and
that offers something that's "kinder and gentler". There are, however, a lot of
pitfalls to using herbs, and unless you are well studies and have definitive
resources to guide you, using herbs may result in serious injury or illness.
Here we discuss the importance of doing research, how to properly research an
herb, and recommend a few library and World Wide Web resources.
